Denny Matte, CIM, FCSI

Senior Vice-President, Investment Advisor

My passion for investing began very early in life when my father nurtured my aptitude for mathematics and finance by giving me seed money to learn the markets. Enjoying immediate success, I began an investing club while studying finance at university. Soon, many of my professors, fellow students and their parents joined and learned to trust my instincts.

I began my career in the industry at Midland Doherty in 1986 as a Financial Analyst. Within a year, I knew that what I really wanted was to work directly with people, providing expertise and leadership to help them protect and develop their capital. I became an advisor and have never looked back.

Within five years, through my strong work ethic, financial prowess, successful track record and attentive service, I established myself as one of the most respected and top-performing brokers in the country, ranking in the industry’s top one per cent. By 2001, Midland Doherty had evolved into Merrill Lynch and appointed me to their elite group of elected Ultra High Net Worth Advisors. To this day, I continue to specialize in advising a select number of the country’s most affluent individuals, entrepreneurs and families.

I believe that, to be successful, one must surround oneself with the best people in the business. Early in 2015, I joined Canaccord Genuity to continue to offer to my clients the advantages of working with a  global firm. Canaccord Genuity has been building and preserving wealth for Canadians since 1959. My clients deserve to know that their money is safe and well-managed at a strongly capitalized firm.

Outside of my professional life, I have three passions. One is spending time with my three sons. The second is scuba diving — I am a very avid cave diver and, on seven cave explorations around the globe, have had the distinction of being the first diver in. My third passion is rowing — I was ranked in masters rowing in 2001 at the Montreal Rowing Club and was their President for many years.
